fashion forecast 2011/2012 – jewellery trends

November 21, 2011 at 2:22 pm 1 comment

While jewellery & accessories are one area of fashion that never really goes out of style, there are definitely certain trends that are “hipper” than others at any given moment.  The forecast for the winter 2011/2012 as showcased by British Vogue is for chokers.  Yes, those close fitting, ornamental neckbands are making a comeback!

According to Vogue … “CHOKERS are are set to become the must-have addition to your jewellery box for autumn/winter 2011-12. It’s been a while since our necks felt the familiar pressure of chokers but the time is right for their return and we predict that, before long, they’ll be adding a glamour injection to wardrobes at every time of day.”

Other hits for the season … according to trend analysis on the streets of Milan, as reported by Trendzine fashion information …

The latest accessories make a strong statement and the fashion pack push these new trends forward with an aura of conviction and confidence.  Styling is crucial and this report shines the spotlight, not only on the new trophy pieces, but also on the unique way accessories are cariend and worn.  This information is fundamental to the development of future trends and offers accurate direction and inspiration for the industry.

They’ve broken down, into categories, what we’ll be seeing in the months ahead …

COLOUR – kitsch styles in bright pops of colour

METAL – tough hardware and edgy details

MODERN – clean, minimal and angular lines

OFFICE – neat and practical boyish classics

TRIBAL – african craft and organic textures

VINTAGE – victorian and baroque prettiness

And for those interested in what we’ll be seeing in the shops of London & Milan for the coming season …
“Statement necklaces, which fill the collar area, dominate the jewellery scene in Milan and London. These short styles can be made up of twisted clusters of beads or chunky single chains with oversized pendants.
These magnified sizes are also trending for rings, which are chunky and feature cutout lettering or are set with large spherical stones. Leather cuffs with hardware or buckle style fastenings also make a bold statement. Smaller strappy bracelets and bangles are worn in groups, mixing colour and textures.
Silver and gold look great together and mixing metallic colours is a definite jewellery trend moving forward.”

Happy Accessorizing!
